Who we are

Totally Amsterdam (totallyamsterdamonline.com) is an independent travel guide site. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent through our contact page.

Affiliate links and how we're funded

This site includes affiliate and referral links, meaning we may earn a commission or referral bonus if you sign up for a service or buy a product through them, at no extra cost to you. Right now that includes:

• Wise — a referral link to Wise's card and multi-currency account service, shown as "Get a Free Wise Card" in the footer of most pages.
• Amazon Associates — links to travel products on Amazon, shown as "Shop Essential Travel Items," which include an Amazon affiliate tag.

We only link to products and services we'd genuinely recommend regardless of any commission — the presence of a commission never determines what we write about in a guide. Editorial content (the guides themselves) is written independently of any affiliate relationship; affiliate links are shown separately, clearly labeled, and never disguised as regular content.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages are useful and how the site is generally used — things like which guides get read, roughly which country visitors come from, and which device types are common. This is aggregated, standard web analytics; we don't use it to build individual profiles of visitors for advertising.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visits and sessions. We don't currently run advertising, so we don't use third-party ad-tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it.

The contact form

If you use our contact form, the name, email and message you submit are sent to us to respond to your message — we don't add you to a marketing list from a contact form submission alone, and we don't sell or share that information with third parties.

Third-party links

Beyond the affiliate links described above, guides on this site link to external tourist attractions, transport operators, and other independent websites for reference. Once you leave our site, that site's own privacy policy applies — we don't control or take responsibility for third-party sites' data practices.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can use browser settings or extensions to block analytics cookies, and most browsers let you clear cookies at any time. Blocking analytics doesn't affect your ability to read any guide on this site.

Changes to this policy

If how we use data changes meaningfully — a new affiliate partner, a new analytics tool, or similar — we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
